Ich Würde Sagen es Handelt sich um Birke und die Gekröpften Messer sind Mora Löffelschnitzmesser.

not quite,

one was made out of poplar and the other out of ash.

Birch, however, is perfect for this work.
The students took some birch with them out of the forest ( was cut down by forestry, not by us... )
