Blade Systems!
care to elaborate? i've had this guy (martin s(something?) iirc) build me a few knives, back in the day.. just wanted to order a new one after a long offline-phase - just to see that blade systems is no longer in business.

If you buy at the big resellers - TNK - MonkeyEdge - Bluelinegear - Ebosshoss - Plaza Cutlery - Mattdtactical etc.
you can be 110% sure, that you get a original Strider SMF.

I ttraded both of my sar4 for some SAR6 and SAR8 - because they 6 and 8 are much better balanced..
Think about getting yourself a SAR 6 or SAR8. -
This Ring is awesome, really, but consider not putting on your gloves first. You'll never have that time.

Battery Acid will work, Iron III Sulfat, you coud use also Nitric Acid (HNO3)
( I guess you want to the Tigerstripes back on an Strider Knive?)

(and these are nearly all made out of S30V)

Do you know how this works?
Every steel is etchable
- depends only on the % of acid you put it in.Splash-etching works this way: You put glue or some other sticky material (Bitumen) onto the steel, then wait until it is dry. And then put it into Acid.

I tried sometimes to get some seldom Busse Knives.
But as you said, when they get online - they are gone within seconds...
I think the real collectors employ some workless people - to go through all online forums where these knives are sold - to get them. -
