Konnte bis jetzt leider nichts zur Haltbarkeit rausfinden. Wenn die das Zeug so gut an die Klinge bekommen wie das Digicamo Finish, dann wärs eine Überlegung wert ein Fixed in dieser Beschichtung anzuschaffen - das nötige Kleingeld vorrausgesetzt...

Hier mal 10 Fragen an Duane bezüglich des neuen Materials:

4. Prying?
A facet of question number one. I can give opinions and references but official,
comparable data is being compiled independent of ownership for scientific and
liability purposes. Stand by.
5. Diving knife w/orange G-10?
Model BD ... yes ... Orange G10 ... if customer provides G10. Colored G10
requires minimum orders of manufacture. Other materials are available in orange
and other options are worth discussion.
6. Edge retention?
Lets call this wear resistance ... all test to date exhibit excellent results. Once
again ... comparative data is being compiled at this time.
NOTE: with a hardness level as high as we have achieved, a relative indicator
shows that great things are happening here. This is directly relative to edge
retention.
7. With the harder RC, how brittle is the material?
"brittle" is not an appropriate metallurgical term. I believe you are referring to
toughness. And again ... if it is true comparative data you are interested in, it is
being done in a controlled environment as we write. Early indications show
outstanding results in this category.
8. Non-ferric, Non-corrosive?
Ferric/ferrous materials represent iron based alloys. This is NOT.
Corrosion resistant ...
Orders of magnitude above anything in history at comparable hardness.
9. How is it to sharpen?
Similar to any 60/63Rc hardness material.
10. Rough cost for SnG?

The generic name for the family of nickel-titanium alloys is Nitinol.
In 1961, Nitinol, which stands for Nickel Titanium Naval Ordnance
Laboratory, was discovered to possess the unique property of having
shape memory. William J. Buehler, a researcher at the Naval Ordnance
Laboratory in White Oak, Maryland, was the one to discover this shape
memory alloy. The actual discovery of the shape memory property of
Nitinol came about by accident. At a laboratory management meeting, a
strip of Nitinol was presented that was bent out of shape many times.
One of the people present, Dr. David S. Muzzey, heated it with his pipe
lighter, and surprisingly, the strip stretched back to its original
form. (Kauffman and Mayo, 4)
Ein erster "Production Run" wurde auf der Blade verkauft. Dabei handelt es sich um SMF´s die mit solchen Klingen bestückt sind.

Der hohe Preis ergibt sich neben dem üblichen Custom Aufschlag aus
der Tatsache, dass das Material 200 $ pro Pfund kostet und sich sehr
schwer bearbeiten lässt.

Der bisher von Strider Knives verwendete Damast kam von Jim Ferguson - twisted nickel damascus und nennt sich Coyote Brown Damascus.
Da dieser in den Ruhestand geht, hat Mick Strider das Equipment aufgekauft und schmiedet jetzt selber - auch den Damast!
Erste Bilder von Monostahl-Schmiedearbeiten gab es ja zur Bladeshow, hier nun das erste eigene Damast Messer. Dieses Messer gehört Josh.
